Launched! New Audi A8
For those of you holding your breath for the new Audi A8, please open your nasal passages and inhale. The car has been launched in Miami at the design festival and from what has been seen so far, it is quite impressive.
Audi have always been known to extensively use aluminum in the A8 to maintain lower weight figures than its competitors. The new version is no different. As for power, the main engine choice will be the 4.2 V8 packing 366 bhp and 328 lb-ft of torque, accelerating its owner from 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. The standard transmission mating the engine to the Quattro system will be the ZF 8-speed automatic.
Speaking of the automatic, check out the beautiful shifter mimicking throttle levers used in yachts. As always, Audi sets the bar for interior design as BMW and Mercedes have been off the mark as of late. Want to know what’s really cool? Audi have decided that some drivers may not want to bother with the onboard computer’s mouse and switches, so they have come up with an innovative scribble pad next to the shifter which you can write what you want using a stylus and the system will recognize it.
Can’t wait to see what the sport version, the S8, will look like.
