GM trademarks the legendary “Stingray” name
In May, General Motors filed a trademark application for the word “Stingray” with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The application was for use on “Motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles.” Could Chevrolet be planning on bringing the Stingray name back to life for the next Corvette model?
Hate to burst your bubble, but according to GM, “it’s not really indicative of any specific naming or branding decisions.” Paranoia struck the automaker when they discovered that they did not have control over the Stingray name to the extent they should.
