An Arab custom Mercedes from the 80s… say hello to Benny-S El Riyadh!
Not the prettiest car to look at, but then again it’s from the 80s. This Mercedes started off as a 500SEL model, but was then tuned by Benny-S, a German company. Named “El Riyadh”, this tuned Benzo was destined for a Saudi owner.
The exterior was graced with small touches like badging, different front and rear bumpers, side skirts, Centra Type 31 rims, and red pin-striping. But the real work went into the interior.
Reminiscent of Knight Rider’s KITT, this Benz’s interior looks straight out of a sci-fi movie. The dash was completely reconfigured and rebuilt, the layout unrecognizable to anyone who has been in an original 500SEL. Benny-S apparently called this “modern styling” using digital instrumentation, a Clarion G80 stereo system, and an actual TV.
This was definitely one whacky project! Your thoughts?

Marvelous.. I really love it, my dad used to have a 500 SEL AMG from early 80′s, at the time Al Bisher never sold AMG cars in Kuwait, and my dad’s car had to spend extra time to fit in the extra parts, and the special color..
back to this car, I think it was ages beyond its years, I really dig it..

@Kuwaiti Boys Toys: I loved these SEL models. My father also had one and it was also the first car I ever drove on my own (at the tender age of 10 hehehe) over a very short distance. Thanks for sharing your nostalgic moment
@Miss Good Egg: The center console reminds me of a PC unit. Plus, the AC vents seem to have been installed sideways lol. Bizarre yet interesting interior; must have been really impressive back in the 80s.
