Car-obsessed soccer moms rejoice… the 2013 Audi RS4 Avant is here
To me personally, nobody does whack-job wagons like Audi. It’s a segment they have mastered with classics like the RS2 Avant (built in cooperation with Porsche) and the RS6 Avant. With the launch of the new RS4 Avant, Audi has a lot of expectations to deliver on.
The car’s flared fenders, dual exhaust system, signature silver mirrors, LED lighting and RS badges instantly differentiate the RS4 Avant from any family wagon roaming the streets.
The RS4 Avant utilizes a naturally-aspirated 4.2-liter V8 engine with 450hp and 317.15 lb-ft of torque. It’s also a high-revving unit capable of 8,250 rpm, with 0-100km/h acceleration times of 4.7 seconds.
The interior is what you’d expect from Audi. Quality fit and finish. Carbon fiber trim, black leather and the perfect blend of curvaceous and sharp lines.
So soccer moms who don’t want to settle for a minivan, SUV or a run-of-the-mill station wagon, and have a bit of cash too, can fork out approximately $100,000 to break a law or two on their way to the supermarket or picking up the kids. Long live the wagon!

Nice write up man! But don’t mock the Audi wagons, they have more fanatic fans than the 5 series and E class wagons.

Not mocking Audi wagons at all… I think they are the best out there! You may have misunderstood me because of the title and the whole “soccer mom” thing, but I meant that just because it’s a wagon, it doesn’t mean that it’s not a beast.
So even “car obsessed soccer moms”, who usually are confined to driving ghastly crossovers, can now enjoy a supercar in wagon form

I know you what you meant man but be aware of soccer moms lol!
we have enough trouble with them in Denalis’ and Tahoes

Love it! Beautiful design…..they have this segment down! Didn’t get the sense you were mocking it! LOL

It’s the magical formula. Although the RS4 is epitomized in the B7 version, the B8 seems to wear the skin of the departed RS6 C6! Only available in “avant” and hope it’s also only available in manual, to keep the legend alive!

@Mathai: Haha! You’re right… we need to watch out for them.
@skoubaissi: They really do know their wagons!
@al6are8: According to the official press release, the available gearbox is the 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. I did not read anywhere that a manual unit is optional, which would be unfortunate.

I think I would look ridiculously tiny and funny in a wagon like this but I can see how it has its uses now!

I completely agree with you on this Miss Good Egg.
