Wait a minute… this isn’t the Juke-R!
Nissan and Nismo, the brand’s motorsports and performance arm, are probably hoping that the Juke Nismo will make half the splash the Juke-R did. If that happens, there will be “mucho” success to celebrate. The reason I believe this variant exists is because the Juke-R became so popular that it made limited production in very small numbers, so Nissan needed to satisfy the customers that couldn’t afford it.
Powered by a tuned version of the Juke’s 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, the Nismo version comes with a stiffened suspension, a modified steering setup and torque vectoring technology that provides better handling and cornering ability.
The Juke Nismo sports newly designed front and rear bumpers, side skirts, flared fenders, a tailgate spoiler, a new front-end grille and 18-inch wheels. The interior is a straightforward affair with suede-trimmed Nismo sports seats and items such as the pedals, gauges and steering wheel redesigned with sporty driving in mind.
The Juke Nismo debuted this weekend at Le Mans, with pricing yet to be announced. European sales will begin in January, 2013. Will it make an impression?
