Mercedes makes its SLS AMG faster by going fully electric!
When the concept of a fully-electric Mercedes SLS AMG had first been announced, I thought to myself “they should have designed a totally new car before going down that road”. I admit I may have jumped the gun there a bit because the fact that it sports this stunning electric-bluish paint job (almost resembles water in a swimming pool), or that it pumps out 740bhp and 737lb-ft of torque, is enough to make me think they may have pulled it off.
The SLS AMG Electric Drive will be the fastest Mercedes-built gullwinged car ever made… not to say that there is much competition in that realm. The numbers are impressive: 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 250km/h.
Power is delivered via four electric motors, assisting the electrified SLS AMG to achieve a total driving range of approx. 240 kilometers.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive will launch in 2013 with the starting price expected somewhere in the $500,000 US dollar range. I have a feeling that it’ll be available in limited numbers as well.
