Shelby America has recently taken the covers off an insane Ford Mustang with over 1000bhp. Called the Shelby 1000, there will be two versions offered to the lucky few who have the cash to buy them. The first model is a street legal version running 950bhp with the help of regular fuel. The other model is a track version with 1100bhp on tap.
The Shelby 1000 gets a completely rebuilt 5.4-liter V8 engine with a Whipple supercharger, new mechanicals like a modified crank, a revised (more…)
Ever thought that you could do much more with a stripped-down car, rather than one that came loaded? Well in Japan, Toyota and Subaru decided to offer just that with their new sport coupes: the 86 and the BRZ, respectively. Their reasoning? Give customers a low-cost option, as well as offering tuners and track enthusiasts a model which they could modify.
No painted door handles and mirror covers to be found here. No fog lights. Plain 16-inch steel wheels. Toyota even takes it a step further on their model (Subaru pictured in this post) with (more…)
Highly regarded in the GCC, the Toyota Land Cruiser is the go-anywhere option for any off-road junkie. And because of this, Al Futtaim Motors (UAE) have joined forces with Arctic Trucks, the same guys that built Top Gear’s Toyota Hilux pickup for the polar exploration episode, to build the Land Cruiser Xtreme. Powered by a 5.7-liter V8 engine, the Xtreme looks the part with flared fenders, a lifted suspension and off-road tires. Watch the video after the jump.
If you know anything about the Skyline GT-R’s history, you’ll be quite aware that it was labeled in the past as “Godzilla“… Japan’s mythical monster. But Godzilla was never easy on the eyes, yet the current Skyline GT-R is. The Nissan Juke-R, on the other hand, ain’t as pretty. Call it awesome… call it ugly… call it what you want… it’s going to be one bad-ass machine! It’s already a hit on the world wide web, while having simultaneously built itself a massive cult following around the globe. Hell, I’m totally on board!
Based on the Juke crossover, the R version basically takes the heart (engine + transmission) of Godzilla (the Skyline GT-R) and its chassis as well. This thing’s already a beast without even (more…)
Bringing Tron to reality – somewhat – I don’t know whether I love or hate these glow-in-the-dark wheels! They look cool when rolling on the road, but not so much when at a complete stop. Judge for yourself and watch the video after the jump.(more…)
Not the prettiest car to look at, but then again it’s from the 80s. This Mercedes started off as a 500SEL model, but was then tuned by Benny-S, a German company. Named “El Riyadh”, this tuned Benzo was destined for a Saudi owner.
The exterior was graced with small touches like badging, different front and rear bumpers, side skirts, Centra Type 31 rims, and red pin-striping. But the real work went into the (more…)
The Ford SVT Raptor is no slouch. Its got a 6.2-liter engine with 411hp and 434lb-ft of torque, more than enough power for a pick-up truck. But is it enough power for a 6-door version of the car?
As of now, we don’t know much about this custom-built Raptor… all we do know is it’s supposedly in the UAE. Watch the custom Raptor in action after the jump.(more…)
Unique Rolls-Royce cars are nothing new to the region. Get ready to add another one to the mix as Rolls-Royce Motor Cars of Doha commissioned a turquoise-colored Phantom Bespoke Edition, the first of its kind in the world with the color never being applied before on any Rolls-Royce model.
Inspired by the turquoise stone colour, the paint scheme “symbolises the Arabian Gulf’s soothing sea and clear sky”. This car is also the first in the world to have (more…)
No one has created more insane Mercedes-based machines than Brabus. The German tuner has been working on expanding its portfolio by taking the brand into new markets, leading to the launch of a new center in Dubai.
Brabus Middle East is located on Sheikh Zayed Road in a building with more than 3,000 m² of space. With a large showroom area, a workshop, an upholstery shop and a (more…)
The Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) – an international trade association of different manufacturers, distributors, retailers, custom-car builders, car clubs, race teams and more, and also host of the largest aftermarket trade show in the world. What does this mean for UAE car aficianados? You might not be getting hassled for having a modified car in the near future.
The MOU basically states that a set of guidelines and regulations would be developed to allow owners of properly and safely modified cars to (more…)
Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) has finally unveiled its Venom GT supercar. Using the brilliant Lotus Elise chassis as its basis, the Venom GT will be powered by the new Corvette ZR-1 supercharged engine. Add to that, copious amounts of carbon fiber – including wheels – and this will be one machine nobody would want to mess with.
Now back to the engine. What Hennessey calls a base model is what most car companies would be afraid to even (more…)
Not a normal site… might even cause a few belief to rub their eyes violently in disbelief. German tuner – Reiter Engineering – are widely known for their dramatic body kits for Lamborghinis. Recently, they had created their own version of the Gallardo Trofeo race car, the Strada (used in the video). So I’m guessing they decided that what better way to rigorously test the car than to tack on some ice tires and go skiing!
Ruf is a German company known to never take the easy road when it comes to modifying Porsches. They are so well-respected in the auto industry that they are regarded as a manufacturer and not a tuner.
So it’s no surprise that they would attend the Geneva Motor Show and blow visitors minds. How? (more…)
