Range Rover covered in coins representing the GCC… no cliche here folks

March 25, 2013

Coins-Car-Range-Rover

Approximately 57,412 coins were used to cover the surface of a Range Rover. The SUV is also covered in GCC flags and visuals representing their current and previous rulers. An entity naimed Coins Car is responsible for this. I don’t get it. Not necessarily my cup of tea. Cliche to the max. But it is impressive. Watch the walkaround video after the jump. (more…)

Speed comparison: Red Bull F1 car, a V8 Supercar and a Mercedes SL AMG. This time, it isn’t staged.

Melbourne-F1-2013-Speed-Comparison

It’s been done before. Only difference is, this one takes place on live TV and isn’t staged as frequently done for marketing & PR purposes. Nice to see Casey Stoner and Mick Doohan involved (normally pushing the limits on their race bikes), while David Coulthard resumes duty in the Red Bull F1 car. Enjoy the video after the jump. Video: Kimi Raikkonen angry with Apple Maps

November 30, 2012

kimi-raikkonen-brazil-gp-spoof

If anyone watched the action-packed Brazilian Grand Prix, then you’d surely remember Kimi’s “lost on track” episode. It was only a matter of time before someone used it in a spoof. Enjoy the video after the jump. (more…)

First new Range Rovers delivered to the Ruler of Dubai

November 21, 2012

The first dealer in the world to deliver the all new Range Rover is Al Tayer Motors in the UAE. The keys to two examples went to Sheikh Mohammed, the Ruler of Dubai, and another set went to the Crown Prince. I don’t know what’s more bling bling? Having the first example or that “Dubai 1″ license plate?

What’s different about this Porsche?

November 1, 2012

Come on… I’m sure you see it. Let’s just say it gains inspiration from a car that uses a single letter and number in its name. And no, this isn’t a photoshopped image. Any takers?

Taking a break! A much-needed one!

August 16, 2012

Fear not dear readers! Brake Banzeen hasn’t been shut down. I’ve just decided to take a much-needed break from all things related to social media. Will be posting again in close to two weeks time, if not earlier, so please keep checking the blog every now and then. You can also follow me on Twitter @brakebanzeen, where I’ll probably drop a few rants every once in a while. Thanks for understanding!

Stay tuned… pun intended.

Video: What do 40 car parts sound like when converted to a drum kit?

August 7, 2012

Cars and music go hand in hand. But this is definitely not your run-of-the-mill sound system. Jordan Hill created Motor Rythms by using everything from a flywheel to crankshafts in creating a 40-piece drum kit, salvaged from a car. Listen to how awesome the kit sounds (and looks) in the video after the jump. (more…)

Back from the garage…

August 7, 2012

Excuse the hiccup over the past few days. Due to unforeseen domain hosting issues, you may (or may not – shame on you) have noticed that Brake Banzeen wasn’t up and running. Thankfully, that’s all behind us now and I can get back to business. Posts to follow soon. Thanks for sticking around!

Aston Martin V12 Zagato not selling as well as expected?

July 26, 2012

Aston Martin will only produce 101 units of the V12 Zagato according to internet sources. That means 49 cars less than the 150-car production run which was first announced. Are not enough people cueing up to buy it?

This might be the case. Although something tells me that Aston Martin may (more…)

Audi re-inventing the “showroom”?

July 16, 2012

Over the past few years, the folks at Audi have been aggressively innovating new ideas to help spread their brand across the globe. Their latest concept is Audi City, a digital showroom where potential buyers can spec any Audi model and then view it on a 1:1 scale. Customers can also use the technology to zoom in on individual parts of the car, explaining highlighted items in more detail.

Audi are obviously not looking to replace the traditional dealership setup, but it’s a clever way of (more…)

A Caddy fit for a gangster

July 16, 2012

Al Capone. You must have heard the name before. American gangster. Prohibitionist. An Italian mobster who’s illegal activities rewarded him with endless streams of money. And that’s why he was able to afford this ride back in the day.

Capone was such a powerful figure that his 1928 Cadillac V-8 Town Sedan came painted in green with black fenders, similar to Chicago police cars at the time. It was also (more…)

VW take over Porsche! For the love of…

July 12, 2012

Takeovers in the auto industry are nothing new. Automakers want more money and they achieve this by increasing their portfolios, starting sub-brands, sharing parts, squeezing their suppliers and applying other tactical ploys to shave costs. Another trick, one which carmakers have been quite keen on these days, is to add more segments to their lineups: 2-door coupes, 4-door coupes, 4-door coupe convertibles, 2-door SUV convertibles, and the list goes on and on. Or they could simply purchase another existing brand.

And that’s what has happened here. It is important to note that VW’s takeover hasn’t come short of drama. Porsche actually tried to buy VW in 2009, but failed in (more…)

Video: Arab supercars are back in London… this time, it ain’t pretty

June 11, 2012

The summer has just kicked off and Arab supercar owners can’t stand the heat. So the supercar exodus to London begins. The car in this video used to belong to a Qatari royal family member (the torquoise color is their signature), but from what I’m told the Lamborghini SV has since exchanged hands. The “new” owner seems to be mad about something… very mad! Watch the video after the jump. (more…)

Uday Hussein’s Ferrari F40 spotted again

June 10, 2012

Till death did them part. The son of former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, apparently had a decently-sized car collection while he was alive. But after the U.S. dethroned his papa and had him killed, his cars were obviously left behind. One particular car is a Ferrari F40 (pictured above). The car was apparently sent to a garage for work but never (more…)

UAE classic cars to get unique number plates

June 4, 2012

A licensing service for classic cars older than 30 years has launched in the UAE. The Licensing Agency of the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai, in collaboration with the UAE Automobile and Touring Club, will hold its first auction on the 14th of June, giving classic car owners the opportunity to bid on unique license plate numbers. There will also be plates available via direct sale.

As per the regulations, the cars must 30 years or older, all the parts must be original and the vehicles must pass a technical inspection. There will be six categories: Class A cars will be free to (more…)
