During a race event at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, this Camaro drag car experienced what is reportedly a nitrous explosion. At first, there’s a fireball which shoots out via the hood scoop. A crew member checks on it (foolishly without any protective gear), and then BOOM. I’m sure the team are just thankful that every one is still alive after this incident. Watch the video after the jump. (more…)

April 9, 2012The fun side to Abu Dhabi’s 2-seater F1 car experience
March 27, 2012It has definitely been a slow week here on Brake Banzeen. Heck, it’s been a slow week pretty much everywhere in the auto news world! But I thought it would be good to show the other side to Yas Marina’s F1 2-seater experience in Abu Dhabi. If you remember a recent post of mine, I showcased a video of a woman being violently thrown around in the car because the pit crew didn’t properly secure her into the seat. Here is Harry Metcalfe’s (from evo Magazine) positive experience to counter that. Watch the video after the jump. (more…)

February 4, 2012At the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, they have 2-seater F1 cars on hand for people to experience the sheer insanity of their V10-powered, 700bhp open-wheel race cars. The cars are capable of hitting 5G of G-force, so being tightly secured in the cockpit is a serious requirement.
Unfortunately for this passenger, the belts weren’t on tight enough. See what happens in the video after the jump. (more…)

Seriously? A “superbus”? (w/videos)
May 10, 2011Fresh from a trip in Dubai, there was a bit of buzz making the rounds about a “superbus” which was currently in the works. How super exactly? This “superbus” will carry 23 passengers while traveling at a speed of 250km/h on a dedicated “speed track” (concrete track running parallel to the existing motorway). The “superbus” is made out of carbon fiber keeping the weight of this massive vehicle as low as possible, while it’s powered by (more…)

Video: Drive like an idiot in Abu Dhabi and you might become a TV star! NOT!
September 29, 2010Now that I just re-read the title I used, you would think that I encourage this sort of behavior. Note: Brake Banzeen does not condone such acts! There… the lawyers will be happy.

August 17, 2010After creating the Yas Eagle Phantom range for Abu Dhabi Motors, Rolls Royce decided it wasn’t enough to satisfy the customization-centric UAE market. So here are two more freshly launched Rolls Royce Phantom special editions produced specifically for the UAE.

The bizarre “Black Spider” from the UAE (w/video)
August 12, 2010The UAE has no shortage of custom rides. When it comes to individuality, the Emiratis definitely like to make their statement. Case in point is this custom Nissan Patrol, dubbed the “Black Spider”, which belongs to Sheikh Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan (a.k.a. The Rainbow Sheikh) from Abu Dhabi. The Patrol has six wheels and a hydraulic system that should help the vehicle climb anything in its way. Watch the video after the jump. (more…)
When the PR stunt turns sour
December 1, 2009Well, the Abu Dhabi police department better learn a good lesson from this PR move which turned ugly!
Before Picture
After Picture
The Lamborghini Gallardo police car pictured here is one of two cars used by the Italian Polizia. Unfortunately for them, it was short lived and quite ironically, the car and its officer were returning from a safe-driving seminar.

Open wheeler meets the Abu Dhabi police force
November 27, 2009If you weren’t impressed with the Abu Dhabi police department’s acquiring of a Nissan Skyline, be prepared to get blown away. The UAE has been known to be the master of PR in the region, meaning it knows how to put a spin on anything and you have to respect that!
To promote road safety in Abu Dhabi, the police force decided to showcase some of their cavalry. I had learned about the Skyline only recently, but I had no clue that they had a new Chevy Camaro, a custom Orange County Choppers (OCC) motorcycle dubbed “The Falcon”, and an open-wheel race car in full police gear (lights and sirens) called the F999 in their arsenal!
Thumbs up to the Abu Dhabi police for doing something different to raise awareness on the importance of road safety.
