We’ve all heard the news that Lamborghini was prepping a special unveiling for the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in celebration of its 50th anniversary. And this is supposedly it! Meet the Veneno (“poison” in Spanish).

Built on the Aventador’s carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, the Veneno utilizes an upgraded version of Lambo’s 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 that produces 740hp instead of 700hp. Mated to a 7-speed autobox, with power transmitted to all four wheels, the super-secret Lambo can hit a top speed of (more…)

Launched! Lamborghini’s ultimate track slayer: the Aventador J

And then there was one. Literally. An “absolute one-off”. Unveiled in Geneva, the 690bhp 6.5-litre V12 Lamborghini Aventador J is a fully functional road car up for sale (more on that later).

What does the letter ‘J’ represent? It was derived from the FIA’s motorsport rulebook whereby “Appendix J” defines the technical specification of all race cars in the various classes. Is Lamborghini saying that this is the car that encompasses all race cars?

Carbon fiber is extensively used throughout the exterior and interior. The special paint applied to the car consists of a unique red color with a chrome effect. The wheels are also unique to this car, where the (more…)

Ferrari’s hybrid technology explained

Ferrari took the wraps off its hybrid 599, the HY-KERS, during the Geneva Motor Show. Hybrid technology is quite a loose term nowadays, as there are so many different types and variations being used. The video below explains simply the concept behind the Italian marque’s first hybrid “vettura laboratorio”, or experimental vehicle in English.

The greenest Ferrari of them all!

Labeled as a “vettura laboratorio” (Italian for experimental vehicle), Ferrari has officially unveiled its most eco-friendly Ferrari ever! The 599 HY-KERS.

Based on technology used in F1 last year, the HY-KERS uses energy (in the form of heat) derived under braking and stores it in the batteries. (more…)

2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera

A while back, I had posted some leaked images & renderings of the upcoming Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera. Well, thanks to the Geneva Motor Show, it is now a reality.

The new Superleggera (means super light) will be powered by a 5.2-liter V10 pumping out 570 hp, propelling the car from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds while clocking a top speed of 325 km/h. So how do Lamborghini achieve these numbers? Mass reduction of overall weight. (more…)

Porsche did a fantastic job of keeping quiet over the development of this hybrid beauty, which is powered by a 500-horsepower 3.4 liter V8 and two axle-mounted electric motors producing 218 overall hp. (more…)
