We’ve all heard the news that Lamborghini was prepping a special unveiling for the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in celebration of its 50th anniversary. And this is supposedly it! Meet the Veneno (“poison” in Spanish).

Built on the Aventador’s carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, the Veneno utilizes an upgraded version of Lambo’s 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 that produces 740hp instead of 700hp. Mated to a 7-speed autobox, with power transmitted to all four wheels, the super-secret Lambo can hit a top speed of (more…)

As the current Lamborghini Gallardo’s era comes to an end, the Italian manufacturer is looking to capitalize on the final production run with limited edition models. And if there’s a market that is hungry for high-priced exotic machinery, it’s definitely China. Hence, the birth of this very limited edition Gallardo LP550-2 GZ8 Edizione Limitata.

Strictly for the Chinese market, the rear-wheel drive GZ8′s name represents the city of Guangzou, while the number 8 indicates the amount of cars set for production. The Limitata comes with (more…)

If you’re an avid reader of this blog, you’d know that more than a month ago I posted about Lamborghini unveiling its concept SUV… posting the news before any other world-renowned site, I might add, thanks to my source. So here it is: the “Urus” (the name, as always, is derived from the world of bulls).

The permanent, all-wheel drive 4×4 system will have no problem of connecting the engine’s 600hp output to the road. It’s also worth nothing that rumors have been circulating that the Urus could rock a forced-induction V8 engine at time of production, contradicting what most would expect since the brand has (more…)

A while back, I wrote about the possible green-lighting of Lamborghini’s 4-door supercar: the Estoque. I also wrote that the chances of a new Lamborghini SUV coming to life were slim if the Estoque made it into production. But now, according to a very trusted source, it seems quite likely that we could be hearing in the next couple of days that the SUV is back on the table, with a concept model ready to be shared with the public.
This is very exciting news, especially since the Lambo SUV would probably utilize the Gallardo’s delicious 560hp V10 engine, while using loads of (more…)

And then there was one. Literally. An “absolute one-off”. Unveiled in Geneva, the 690bhp 6.5-litre V12 Lamborghini Aventador J is a fully functional road car up for sale (more on that later).

What does the letter ‘J’ represent? It was derived from the FIA’s motorsport rulebook whereby “Appendix J” defines the technical specification of all race cars in the various classes. Is Lamborghini saying that this is the car that encompasses all race cars?

Carbon fiber is extensively used throughout the exterior and interior. The special paint applied to the car consists of a unique red color with a chrome effect. The wheels are also unique to this car, where the (more…)

For the second consecutive year, Audi and Lamborghini of Kuwait – represented by Fouad Alghanim & Sons Automotive (FAS) – sponsored the GulfRun. At this year’s event, GulfRun 7, they showcased the Audi R8 V10, the Audi RS 5, the Lamborghini LP570-4 Spyder and the Lamborghini LP570-4 Superleggera.

As if getting close to the cars wasn’t enough of a treat, FAS gave GulfRun participants and guests the opportunity to experience high-speed ‘taxi rides’ with their professional drivers.

The first part of my ‘experience’ was a ride in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder. We followed a lead safety car through the course, which gave me a chance to (more…)

As the Gallardo LP 570-4 nears ever so close to the end of its production run, Lamborghini could be set to wring out a few special edition models to make the most of it. Hence the bullish Super Trofeo Stradale model in this post. As a successor to the first collaboration between Blancpain and Lambo, the lightweight Super Trofeo Stradale surely scintillates.

Using a ton of carbon fiber (not literally), the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale weighs 70kgs less than the LP 560-4. The rear spoiler and the hood are made of carbon composite material, while the rocker panel covers, rear diffuser and outside mirror housings are (more…)

The 2011 Kuwait Concours d’Elegance has come and gone, and left in its wake some wonderful memories forever cemented in my head. One that really stands out is this magnificent and eccentric car you’re looking at. It is indeed very special and very rare. How rare? Let’s just say it’s the only one in the world… numero 1 of 1.

This Lamborghini Miura Roadster was a one-off car built by Marcello Gandini and Bertone, introduced to the world at the 1968 Brussels Auto Salon. The only reason it never saw official production was due to concerns from Ferruccio Lamborghini that the roof was an integral part of the car and its structural rigidity. He also felt that without the roof, the Miura wouldn’t be a GT anymore because of how loud it would be for the passengers.

Apart from the removal of the roof, other modifications to the car included a larger air intake and spoiler, different taillights, and a roll-over hoop. To my surprise, when I (more…)

No country is more passionate about anything than Italy. They can make cheese sound like a work of art. So, it’s only natural that they create some of the most beautiful looking automotive pieces in the world. Hence, “La Bella Italia”, which was made up of the Al Zayani Motors Ferrari parade along with other Italian makes scattered throughout the parking area.

Ferrari Enzo. One of 400 cars ever to be produced.

Not only was it nice to be surrounded by Prancing Horses, but I got to meet some very special individuals as well. I got to have a chat with Wayne Carini, from Chasing Classic Cars (broadcast on the Discovery Channel in the Middle East), who is a living legend when it comes to finding and securing rare cars. A great guy and an honor to have him and his wonderful team in Kuwait. I’m hoping to get a short interview with him if possible before he leaves.

I even got the chance to speak with Valentino Balboni, legendary Lamborghini test driver who recently retired after spending 40 years with (more…)

I’m lucky to have received a media pass to blog about this year’s Kuwait Concours d’Elegance. This is a very special event, one that differentiates the country from many others regionally and globally. Unique cars have been flown in from all over the world, including a very rare Lamborghini Miura Roadster which I was able to get very close to (only one in the world; to follow up in its own post). So please stay tuned as I gather all the photos and rants from my experiences at the Kuwait Concours d’Elegance 2011.

Nissan Skyline
A little bit of Photoshop software deception here, but tell me these image aren’t just whacky?!?! Using graphic design, the cars have had their roofs chopped off, flipped backwards and pasted back on.

Lamborghini has unveiled the new LP 560-4 Bicolore edition Gallardo at the Qatar Motor Show. The two-tone theme works in that black covers the roof, the pillars, front air intakes and front spoiler, with special titanium-finish multispoke Skorplus alloys. For the rest of the Bicolore’s exterior, yellow, orange, silver, blue or white are all available. Whatever is chosen for the exterior, the interior will match the theme with black leather seats and exterior-matching stitching.

The LP560-4 Bicolore Edition will use the 560hp V10 powerplant and all-wheel drive for the European and Asian markets (Middle East included). However, in the US, the Bicolore Edition will be based on (more…)
